The Fabrics You Covet
We think Zebra Shades are best thought of as a variation of a roller shade because the fabric rolls up and down on a tube, that's mounted at the top of the window. It allows you to transition between sheer and privacy, this is what creates the zebra-like pattern. These shades lift similar to traditional shades, however, if motorization is something you're considering, we can help. Check out more information about motorized shades here.
Unlike a roller shade which uses one solid piece of fabric, a zebra shades fabric is made up of alternating bands that are semi-opaque and sheer which roll on the tube that bypass one another. The idea behind this is that you can rotate the bands slightly to line up the sheer fabrics, thus, allowing a view out of the window, while still offering daytime privacy and UV protection for your interior.
We’ve launched 6 amazing collections for our custom zebra shades - Soft, Fiji, Classic, Comfort, Linen, and Cancun. Skillfully handcrafted with artisanal details, your zebra shades will be made to your exact shades measurements, for windows up to 118" wide.
If you’re looking for a modern alternative to a horizontal blind, this may be the product to perfectly complement your space.
One Shade, Two Layers of Light
When ordering your shade, consider how much light you want in the room when the shades are drawn.
Light filtering fabrics diffuse light gently while providing moderate privacy. When viewed from outdoors through closed shades, you’ll see blurry shapes but no details. Darker fabrics provide enhanced light control while light colors offer greater illumination. The fabrics are opaque or translucent. Colors may appear to shift, depending on the light source or intensity.
Dim Out fabrics allow some light to filter through but provide complete privacy when fully closed. When viewed from outdoors, vague silhouettes are visible. Opaque fabric may appear to vary in color as light conditions change, especially with darker colors.
Regardless of the type of fabric you choose, it is wise to order your shades at the same time to minimize dye lot variation, which ensures consistency of color.
I know what you’re thinking.
