How long will it take to receive my order?
Each Alva Drapery is custom made to order by our skilled craftspeople, specifically for your home. We work hard to deliver your window coverings as soon as possible, and have pieces ready for delivery in 12-15 business days from order unless otherwise noted. In some cases, there will be a delay from when your shipping label is created, and when UPS/Fedex actually picks up the item from our warehouse.
How will my Drapes be delivered?
Most of our products are ground shipped directly to your home using UPS or Fedex. Oversized products are shipped via freight carrier and can currently only be delivered curbside. These freight carriers may take a little longer to complete deliveries, but we promise it will be worth the wait. Customers may be responsible for any added charges regarding additional requests such as in-home delivery, remote area delivery, etc. Canadian customers may also be subject to brokerage fees, depending on the chosen delivery method.
Can I make changes to my order after it has been placed? Is it possible to cancel an order?
Because our products are custom made to your exact specifications, they are not suitable for resale in the ordinary course of business. Therefore, it is important that you are sure of your decisions before you finalize your purchase. We are happy to change or cancel orders as long as you contact us within 3 hours from the date and time the order was submitted to us. Address changes are not permitted once we have shipped your product.
How to Select Drapery Hardware?
When you are wondering how to select drapery hardware, it’s vital that you consider several things:
First, how do you want the draperies to function? Will they be installed over a window, or a door? Do you want them to be stationary and purely decorative, or do you want to open and close them on a regular basis? These factors will affect what type of curtain rods will be best for you
Second, how do you want your draperies to look? Drapery hardware is like jewelry for the room. The color, size, and shape of your rod, brackets, and finials should be chosen to enhance the style of the entire space. Do you want something that is bold, modern, and streamlined, or warm and traditional? If you are considering a decorative drapery rod with finials, you may want to choose those first, as they can become an interesting focal point for your window. Then, this choice will drive the rest of your selections.
Third, you need to consider the quality of the drapery hardware. A well-made drapery rod is reliable as well as beautiful for years to come. This is where Alva products come in.
How to add Drapery Hardware for Rod Pocket Draperies?
Many drapery panels are available with multiple-use options such as tabs and rod pockets. These panels can also be installed on traverse rods or rings with drapery pin hooks, offering many options for both functioning and stationary installations. You will need to consider the following:
Operation — Rod-pocket draperies do not move easily and are optimal for stationary installations. For these installations, you can use plain metal rods that are designed to be completely covered with fabric, or decorative curtain rods if you want the rod or finials to show. If you are using back tabs, the rod must be of a diameter that will fit inside the tabs, and will allow them to move easily if that is what you want. Flat panels can also be used with rings—you would place a drapery pin in the back of the header, or top hem of the drapery, and slip the hook portion of the pin into the eye on the ring.
Width of Installation — Rod-pocket and tab styles cannot move past a bracket, so if you want them to cover a wide window, you will have to break the span up into sections that coordinate with the bracket placement.
Style — Will your rod show, or not? What would enhance your room and the drapery fabric? Alva offers drapery rods in many finishes, including Matte Black and Polished Nickel, to coordinate with any interior style. Alva Drapery Hardware allows the fabric to take center stage and not show at all.
I was really nervous about ordering these drapes. I’ve never ordered anything this expensive online before. The fabric hangs very well, & the linings are heavy enough to block adequate sunlight. The width and length were spot on.
These rod pocket drapes have replaced my life-long, stand-by flannel curtains. I am so glad to have found Alva. The hardware came with the drapes, and fits so nicely.
