Where to Eat, Drink and Shop in Ft. Lauderdale, 2017

When Justin and Stephanie Rouzaud, Alva’s Founders, picked up from Hamburg, Germany to sunny Ft. Lauderdale to start their new business, they had a vision of beachfront office with a simple showroom of unique European home-furnishings. While that vision is still in process, we’ve been collaborating with talent across the globe to launch different kind of window coverings brand, for the modern home.

To welcome a few of our newest team members – and supporters – to the neighborhood, we’ve compiled a few notes on the best locales, eateries, and watering holes nearby. Here’s how to do Ft. Lauderdale like a local, from their eyes ...

Best Drinks

LauderAle: Seriously, this one of S. Florida’s only nano breweries creating authentic hand-crafted beer. You’ll probably get lost twice over trying to find the place, but it’s the experience that counts. Come here for their keggs and eggs brunch on Sunday — you won’t be disappointed.

Tap42: You can't beat the burger special on Monday, drink like a local on Tuesdays and ladies night on Wednesday!

Kaluz: Kaluz oozes 'special occasion' with its intercoastal location and well-staffed valet service. Upon entry, the high ceilings, well-tailored bar and restaurant decor are both upscale and relaxed.

YOLO: The patio is where it's at! Las Olas has some of the best people watching and why not enjoy the fresh air patio seating?

Best Eats

The Alchemist: We couldn't love this place more if we tried! Every time we visit, we always get the Alchemist Iced Coffee (cold brew) served in a mason jar, with ice cubes made of coffee so it doesn't get watered down.

The Foxy Brown: Holy Moly is this place busy! Chef Elliot's downtown establishment is delic. We’re crazy about their brat burger & fried green beans. What a combo.

Loui Bossi’s: Very trendy. Food is fabulous. And, the mimosa's are really bottomless! We never had an empty glass while there.

ROKBRGR: If we were a tourists, and trapped in Downtown for the duration of our visit, and needed comfort food to help us cope, this is the spot! 10$ for ALL Burgers on Mondays, you can't go wrong.

Best Workouts

Jogging Ft. Lauderdale Beach/A1A: You’re in Ft. Lauderdale for heaven sake — take in the sights! This route takes you along the iconic A1A, which hugs the ocean, on a sidewalk that runs parallel to the beach. After you’ve knocked this out, try a few others for located here.

Hot Yoga Fort Lauderdale: This studio is wonderful for yoga, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi.

Best Things to Do

Water Taxi: The water taxi "guides" are usually full of fun facts and jokes for every home and yacht you seem to pass. Make a day of it, bring a bottle of wine or two. Prices go down after 5pm.

Paddleboard the intercoastal: Seriously, this is one of our favorite places to paddleboard or kayak anywhere! They have events semi-often like moonlight paddleboarding or yoga paddleboarding. Follow them on Facebook if you're interested in their events.

Best Hidden Gem

C&I Next Door: This beauty is the perfect respite from the day’s hustle. Part coffee, cafe lounge, and air stream retail shop, with comfortable seating.

Go here you wont be disappointed.
